What’s New This Year
This year introduces two meaningful additions.
A Themed Challenge
For the first time, the Design Challenge centers around a theme. In recognition of our 40th anniversary, participants are invited to interpret:
Past. Present. PAWssible.
Designers are encouraged to reflect on where design has been, how it continues to evolve, and what could lie ahead — through materials, storytelling, innovation, and imagination.

Featuring Chaminade University
We are also honored to welcome Chaminade University — home to Hawai‘i’s only interior design program. While not competing in the judging categories, Chaminade students will design and display a puppy as part of the event. Supporting emerging designers and highlighting the next generation of talent is an important part of this year’s celebration.

A Community-Focused Event
As with our inaugural event in partnership with Hawai‘i Fido, participating teams will transform puppy sculptures into unique works of design. The completed designs will be showcased at a lively evening event on:
Wednesday, April 29, 2026
Guests can expect food and drinks, as well as silent and live auctions. Proceeds from the evening will benefit Hawai‘i Fido, supporting its mission and ongoing community impact.

Industry-Led Judging Panel
Submissions will be evaluated by a panel representing key industry partners, including:
- AIA (American Institute of Architects)
- ASID (American Society of Interior Designers)
- IIDA (International Interior Design Association)
- Hawai‘i Fido
- Office Pavilion
Judging categories include:
- People’s Choice
- Top Dog (Overall Winner)
- Best Use of Materials
- Most Innovative
We look forward to seeing how this year’s participants interpret the theme and contribute to a growing tradition that celebrates both design excellence and community partnership.
