OP Summer Series Recap
This summer, our OP Summer CEU Series, brought together the local design community for a season of learning, conversation, and connection.
The 2026 OP Summer CEU Series brought together Hawaiʻi's architecture and design community to explore how thoughtful design influences the way people live, heal, work, and connect. Presented in partnership with the ASID Hawaiʻi Chapter and MillerKnoll, the three-part series featured AIA/CES-approved courses that examined design through the lenses of culture, healthcare, and the workplace.
Across three AIA/CES-approved courses, architects, interior designers, and industry professionals explored timely topics affecting today's built environments while earning continuing education credits.
The series included:
- Alexander Girard: Celebrating Life Through Design with Taylor Daley, examining how Girard's use of color, pattern, and storytelling continues to influence modern design.
- Healthcare: The Intersection of Hospitality and Healthcare with Jenny Mallette-Nichols and Meredith Wylie, exploring how hospitality-inspired principles can improve experiences for patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare providers.
- Workplace: Comfort, Context, and the Impact of Materials with Logan Atiram, discussing how material choices influence comfort, performance, sustainability, and the overall workplace experience.
Although each presentation focused on a different market, they shared a common message: design has the power to improve people's daily experiences. From creating more welcoming healthcare environments to supporting employee well-being and celebrating culture through design, every session highlighted the important role thoughtful environments play in our lives.
Beyond the educational content, the series offered opportunities for Hawaiʻi's architecture and design community to connect, exchange ideas, and learn from industry experts. We appreciate everyone who joined us throughout the summer and contributed to the conversations.
