Eero Saarinen designed the groundbreaking Womb Chair at Florence Knoll's request for “a chair that was like a basket full of pillows …Something I could really curl up in.” With its steel rod base with a polished chrome finish and a frame upholstered in fabric over a fiberglass shell, the chair is designed to support multiple postures, providing emotional comfort and a sense of security—hence, the name.
